About

Lloyd Prueitt is a seasoned musician whose journey has taken him from the vibrant music scene of 1980s Los Angeles to his personal home recording studio in Tulsa, Oklahoma. An American multi-instrumentalist with a passion for the timeless sounds of the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s, Lloyd blends decades of experience with a deep love for recording, songwriting, and production.

In the 1980s, Lloyd pursued his music career in Los Angeles, immersing himself in the energy of the era's rock and pop scene. However, life soon led him down a different path. He shifted his focus, earning an Engineering degree from Cal Poly and a Master's from USC. With family life calling, Lloyd moved to Tulsa, where, his professional music career reached its conclusion.

But if music is in your DNA, it never truly leaves you. Decades later, in the early 2000s, Lloyd transformed his home into a fully equipped recording studio, reigniting his creative flame in the new millennium. As a skilled guitarist, bassist, keyboardist, drummer, and vocalist, He has spent the past 20 years writing and recording songs that reflect the diverse sounds that shaped him.

In an industry increasingly reliant on digital shortcuts, Lloyd stands out by recording "old school" — track by track, without AI, samples, or loops. Each song is a labor of love, carefully constructed from the ground up (the way it should be).  His songwriting is deeply personal, often sparked by emotional triggers. One such example is "Mr. Hard Groove," a Bee Gees-inspired track he wrote after being deeply moved by the documentary on the iconic band's history. His single "She's Got the Look" is a heartfelt tribute to Robert Palmer, showcasing his ability to recreate distinct musical eras. Similarly, "Living on Borrowed Time" was inspired by an article revealing that 72% of Americans live paycheck to paycheck — a sobering reflection of societal hardships. These moments of inspiration and empathy reflect Lloyd's ability to translate life’s challenges and social observations into deeply relatable songs.

His connection to the hardship of others is deeply rooted in the challenges of his own past. Despite life's challenges, including growing up with minimal resources and facing socio-economic struggles, Lloyd channeled his experiences into his music. He recalls, “As Don Henley once said, 'There’s a fine line between the American dream and the American nightmare.' I’ve been on both sides of that line. I’ve told my kids that when I got out of high school, I had the clothes on my back, a pocket full of change, and a $49 guitar… then my dad lost his job."  Lloyd faced the daunting challenge of climbing from the bottom of the socio-economic ladder — experiences that ultimately shaped his storytelling in powerful ways.

Although Lloyd's days performing rock and roll on stage are behind him, he remains dedicated to creating and sharing music. With over 40 copyrighted and recorded songs, he continues to mix and master his works for release as an independent artist. He doesn’t aspire for a record deal or a tour. Instead, his ambition is simple: for listeners to enjoy his music.

Outside of music, Lloyd is actively involved in his property and oil businesses, balances his tennis routine, and enjoys traveling with his wife. His adventurous spirit has taken him to Egypt, Peru, China,  Argentina, Italy, Scotland, Istanbul, New Zealand, and the Amazon Jungle — experiences that have broadened his perspective and enriched his creative storytelling.

While Lloyd may humbly joke about not knowing how he wants to be remembered, one thing is clear… his music is a heartfelt tribute to the evolution of rock, pop, and soul over the decades.  Lloyd isn’t chasing labels or fame…just connection.  He calls his work “a walk through time”, each track a different era is reborn.  Fans of rich heartfelt, retro-infused rock and pop will find a rich soulful journey in his work.
